Operations Business Development Manager | Offshore Wind (UK based)

As our Operations Business Development Manager based in the United Kingdom, you lead the revitalization of Equans’ presence in the UK offshore wind market, establishing a vital link with our European hubs. Reporting directly to the CEO Offshore in this initial phase, you have the unique opportunity to develop client relationships and commercial strategies that will set the foundation for significant future growth. With considerable autonomy, you define the direction of our UK operations and play a critical role in expanding our footprint.
What are your key responsibilities?
- market development: lead the development of Equans’ Offshore business unit in the UK, with a focus on high voltage substations and wind farm monitoring & maintenance
- growth strategy: shape the reactivation of our UK operations, creating and executing strategic plans aligned with our European centres in Hoboken and Den Helder. You leverage shared expertise and resources to drive innovation in the UK
- client engagement: forge strong relationships with new and existing clients, identifying emerging business needs and fostering long-term partnerships
- opportunity development: drive new business opportunities, collaborating with internal teams to ensure each proposal meets client requirements and technical standards
- contract negotiation: lead negotiations with commercial, legal, and financial teams to secure high-value contracts, ensuring mutually beneficial terms
- market intelligence: stay at the forefront of offshore wind trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory shifts, acting as an internal subject matter expert
What do you need to be successful in this function?
- master’s degree in engineering, applied economics, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in business development, within offshore wind
- sales and negotiation expertise: proven track record in closing high-stakes contracts and influencing stakeholders
- technical knowledge: solid understanding of offshore high-voltage substations and monitoring/maintenance operations to meet client and project requirements
- strategic vision: ability to devise and execute strategic growth plans in a dynamic market
- financial and commercial acumen: skilled in assessing the economic viability of business opportunities and delivering commercially sound proposals
- relationship building: strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain high-value networks within the industry
- ability to travel extensively within the United Kingdom and Europe when required
